Jargon Watch

Jobfuscation - an embellished or imaginatively created CV, whether is by the author increasing their salary, claiming skills they didn't have or their former employer uptitling so they could avoid giving the employee a pay rise that better reflected their contribution to the business. Travelling and setting up a start-up are also used.

I once had a client that came up with an elaborate back story as to how he knew the agency I worked for. This was because he had neglected to mention in the application for his job that his previous role was working for a dot.bomb. He joined the organisation just before its final death throes and acted in a professional way to help put the organisation out of its misery.

Kudos to
Management Today magazine.
